WHAT IS THE SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS PROGRAM (TOP)?

The School TOP is a free program offered by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to help promote safe transportation options that can positively affect how students, faculty, and staff get to and from school.


Why should your school have a TOP? A School Transportation Options program is an essential initiative for schools, offering significant benefits in safety and efficiency. School Transportation Options Programs enhance safety and efficiency, which can lead to smoother travel and organized pick-up and drop-off times. TOPs can make available and enhance multiple travel options, allowing travelers to find the most value in the transportation mode that works best for them. In some cases, the traveler might not have previously known about certain transportation modes or how to use them.


What We Do

We work directly with schools to provide funding in the form of annual sponsorships to the school’s official parent-teacher affiliate. The School TOP sponsorship is awarded to the school with the expectation that the funding will be used to enhance and/or promote safe transportation options for students, faculty, and staff as described in the sponsorship application.

Benefits

Awards can be up to $2,000. There is no match requirement.

  • We partner with the schools PTAs, police department, city officials, transit agencies, and local school districts to provide incentives to parents & students interested in getting involved in transportation/safety initiatives.
